| PROS - Great location, nice hotel, great staff, renovated last year | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| CONS - No A/C (not generally a problem in SF), small rooms | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| DINING - | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Nonna Rosa - Fisherman's Warf; Italian; Service was good and the food was mediocre. We had a late lunch, which may account for the food not being as good as the first time we ate here. ~$60.00 for 2 drinks, 2 salads, 1 appetizer and 2 entrees. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Fino - 632 Post St;(415) 928-2080; Italian; Reservations suggested, we didn't have them and waited 40 minutes for a table; Once seated, service and food were both very good. Find a better bar for before dinner drinks, bar tab was 23 bucks (including tip) for 2 of the smallest martinis on record. Dinner tab was ~80 (bar was separate) for 2 salads, 1 appetizer 2 entrees and 1 dessert. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Swiss Louis; Pier 39; Italian; Previously one of our favorites, food was mediocre and the service was horrible. Our waiter spent most of his time socializing and then disappeared and a different waiter took our check. They charge $1/person as a 'fee' to help make up for an increase in minimum wage that they have to pay in the city of San Francisco. We were told this was common but they were the only place that did it. ~$70 for 1 salad, 2 entrees and 2 soft drinks. They have lost 2 loyal customers. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Trattoria Pinocchio's; Italian; 401 Columbus (North Beach); Great patio heaters, was chilly out but we were still able to dine outside. Good food and service, but every once and a while the bus fumes would get to you - price you pay for al fresco dining. The lunch specials are only $9.95 for pasta and a dinner salad, one of the best deals in San Francisco (lunch served until 4:00). The dinner specials are only about a buck more, again a great value. Note that if the menu says spicy, it is! Competition is fierce in North Beach, so it is one of the best places to go for a meal. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
